WATCH: Taxi Driver Who Speaks Like Duterte Shares What Inspires Him To Impersonate The President

Recently a Taxi driver impersonating President Rodrigo Duterte became an instant celebrity when his video went viral online.

Elcias A. Bugsad or known as Mang Elcias, a former Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) from the Middle East and now working as a Taxi driver at Transylvania Transport Inc. in Davao City, went viral after he imitates the voice of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The viral video of Mang Elcias was recorded and uploaded on Facebook by his passenger, Rachelle Oyette Dequina.

The video shows how Mang Elcias imitated the voice of President Duterte. He even spoke some of the memorable lines of the latter.

Mang Elcias perfectly impersonates the president that the media even took the chance to interview him to personally hear him talk like President Duterte.

In the interview, Mang Elcias explained first how he started impersonating the president. He said that two years ago, he always sees President Duterte in the TV, hear him on the radio that he could not help but get used to his voice. And because he observed that people are happy whenever President Duterte talk in public, he decided to impersonate him.

"Mga two years ago, lage ko syang nakikita, naheheadline, nababasa sa mga dyaryo, napapakinggan sa mga radyo. So ang bagay na lage mong nakikita..naririnig o ano ..parang mag-absorb yan sa isip mo. May mga salita sya o sinasabi sya na parang nakacatch ng atensyon."

"Tapos nakitakita ko sa mga tao na tuwing nagsasalita sya sa media..sa maraming tao, masaya yung mga tao so naisipan ko na... bakit di ko sya gayahin kung pwede?"

When asked how he studied the speeches of President Duterte, Mang Elcias said that it was not easy imitating the voice of President Duterte because of his different diction and tone of voice whenever he's joking or angry.

"Medyo mahirap syang gayahin kasi yung the way sya magsalit may gigil at saka may tuno. Paano yung tuno yung nagbiro sya..yung galit sya. So kailangan mo talaga subaybayan yung ginagawa nya."

In addition, Mang Elcias said that he did study how President Duterte talks but not to the extent that he really works hard to achieve it. It was just that he loves current events and he always sees the president.

Mang Elcias thanked his passenger who took the video and added that he was thankful for the unexpected positive turn of event in his life. He also said that as long as it's right, do it for someone for it could be a big help to them.

Mang Elcias then impersonate President Duterte and the reporter can’t help but laugh while Mang Elcias was impersonating the president.
