We all have heard about the horrors that the Dengvaxia vaccine brought to our country. Because of it, 700,000 lives of children who have been vaccinated are in danger.
As of now, 15 children already died, some died because of other reasons, not just the vaccine, but two of them were already proven as casualties of the vaccine.
The parents of the victims reached out to Public Attorney's Office (PAO), and as such, PAO assigned their doctors to perform autopsies on the bodies of the dead children.
However, some doctors like former Health Secretary Esperanza Cabral are against them conducting an autopsy. Some of the PAO doctors even think that they are being stopped because there is a massive cover up that they want to do.
PAO on the other hand, are determined to pursue and not stop the case. Currently, they have already seen a "pattern" in the deaths of 5 of the children in question.
Acosta stated that they should not take into account the medico medical cases. Although she respects the knowledge of these doctors, but she told them not to meddle in the issue anymore, especially if they were scholars of Sanofi Pasteur company that developed the dengue vaccine.
Cabral earlier asked the Department of Justice to stop PAO from performing more autopsies on suspected Dengvaxia victims. But PAO chief Atty. Persida Acosta called out to her during her interview on DZMM radio.
"Kung ako sa kanya ay aralin n'ya 'yung Presidential Decree 1829, obstruction of justice," (If I were her, I would study Presidential Decree 1829, obstruction of justice.)
"Kapag ang isang ebidensya ay hinaharang mo, itinatago mo, pinipigilan mo, ay puwede kang makasuhan ng obstruction of justice," (If you block the search for evidence, hide evidence, stop the presentation of evidence, you can be charged with obstruction of justice.)
Cabral, however, insists that it was better that the autopsies be left with "competent forensic pathologists" so they can investigate further.
But Acosta wouldn't have it, she defended the PAO experts saying that Dr. Erwin Erfe, who was the one who conducted the autopsies is not just a forensic expert, but also a lawyer who understood any legal implications that he may find.
