“Justice has been served. We are now free!”
These were the words written on the banner carried by many residents of Ozamiz who attended the community prayer held at the City Hall on Sunday.
You can see some of the locals who attended on the said rally are also expressing their support to Ozamiz City Chief of Police Senior Inspector Jovie Espenido who led the biggest and most successful anti-drug raid in the history of the said city which resulted to the death of former Mayor Aldong Parojinog and Board Member Octavio Parojinog .
The rally was attended by the locals who wore white t-shirt during a community prayer in front of Osamiz City Hall on Sunday led by Pastor Nathaniel Dinoro, a group of Ozamisnons expressed their joy to the downfall of the Parojinogs, a practice that extremely dangerous during the past years.
The rally happened exactly one week after the bloody raid which resulted to 16 deaths and to the downfall of Parojinog clan which handled Ozamis City for decades.
Some of the locals who attended the said rally claimed that they were victimized by the alleged abuse of power of the Parojinogs.
It’s a very rare scene for the locals to express their views against the family of Parojinog publicly.
Local said that you cannot opposed or openly criticize the Parojinogs and their name were feared a long time because they were rumored as the family who silenced their critics and opponents
One example is the death of Cosme Maestrado also known as “Mr. Ratsada” who got ambushed four months after he released an expose about the alleged illegal drugs business of Osamiz Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog Echavez. The parents of Maestrado Bbelieves that one of the members of the Parojinog clan ordered to silence Mr. Ratsada, but they didn’t filed a case against the powerful family.
According to the PCI Jovie Espenido, this activity would show to the whole world that Ozamis City is safe place to live in and some locals from Osamiz were confident that they already achieved the freedom that they wished for so many years.
