3 Children Are Confirmed Casualties Of The Failed Aquino Admin Anti-Dengue Vaccine Drive

A couple of days ago, it was confirmed that the vaccine that was administered to more than 1 million kids last year on public schools were not fully researched and proven safe.

It turns out that the vaccine was only safe if the one receiving it already survived dengue, if not, then they are at risk of a more severe strain of dengue for the rest of their lives.

As a result, Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption confirmed that from the children who received the Dengvaxia vaccine in April 2016, three of then already died.

“May na-receive na kaming information sa aming coordinator sa Central Luzon [na] tatlo na po ang namatay doon na bata na tinurukan nitong Dengvaxia na ito noong April 2016,”

The VACC also confirmed that one the children who died was a 10-year old kid from Bataan.

In accordance to this, the Department of Justice (DOJ) asked the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look into the matter further. To investigate in case build-up over the possible danger to public health from the P3.5 billion anti-dengue vaccination drive that the DOH implemented with Sanofi Pasteur.

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre vowed that if evidence warrants, then appropriate charges willbe filed.

“I issued a department order for the NBI to conduct investigation in case build-up over the danger to public health arising from the P3.5-billion anti-dengue vaccination drive of DOH and Sanofi Pasteur; and if evidence so warrants, to file appropriate charges,”

Aguirre also added that the issue of overpricing on the said drive is also being investigated.

“Mayroong criminal liability rito. May graft and corruption aspect. [Pero] iyan po ay hindi natin pangungunahan. Maghihintay tayo ng initial report ng NBI sa akin.”
