Jay Sonza: "Akala Ko ABS-CBN Lang, Masahol Pa Pala Ang GMA"

Jay Sonza, a veteran broadcaster and the other half of the long-airing GMA show Mel & Jay with Mel Tiangco.

Sonza was a long-time employee of ABS-CBN before he transferred to GMA 7 together with Tiangco. In A Facebook post, he revealed that before, he thought that only ABS-CBN news is biased, now he is convinced that GMA is even worse.

"akala ko abs-cbn broadcasting corporation lang, masahol pa pala ang gma network."

This was his opening statement in his long Facebook post berating GMA 7.  He mentioned that he was watching the news on different channels because he wanted to know how the news bearers are going to air out the dismissal of Iloilo Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, and on another note, he also mentioned that he was waiting for how the news is going to air the issue that Mar Roxas and Senator Franklin Drilon were named as drug protectors.

"kagabi, palipat lipat ako ng channel dahil gusto kong malaman kung papaano nila bibigyan ng treatment ang istorya tungkol sa pagkakatanggal sa puwesto ni mayor mabilog ng Iloilo city. bukod pa rito, mahigit isang lingo na ang nakakalipas simula ng pumutok ang balita hinggil sa pagkakasangkot nina se, frank drilon at dating kalihim mar roxas sa drug cartel sa panay at negros."

He also mentioned that leading newspapers only printed the news on page 4 and not as a headline.

"dangat kasi ang Philippine star ay naglabas na ng balita tungkol kina drilon at roxas pagkatapos ng isang lingo. iyon nga lang, itinago ito sa page 4 ng pahayagan. hindi ko lang alam ang inquirer kung naglabas din. matagal na kasing hindi ako nabili ng tabloid na nagkukubling dyaryo."

When Vicky Morales finally mentioned the issue, he said finally. But he was quickly disappointed as GMA news dedicated less than a minute for the case and over 5 minutes for the fellow Liberal Party senators to defend Roxas and Drilon.

"noong binanggit ni Vicky morales ang tungkol sa kaso, hay kako, finally eto na ang coverage. but I was so disappointed. dahil po iyong tungkol sa pahayag ni justice sec. Aguirre kakapirangot lang. bilang ko mga 4 sentences, tapos mga 10 seconds na voice-on-tape, iyon na. tapos na.heto ang siste. sinudang kaagad ito ng pahayag ng liberal party na kontodo depensa sa kanilang kapanalig. kesyo ito daw at paninira lamang sa samahan at saka tumuloy hanggang sa kaso at pagkakakulong kay sen. Leila de lima.gma devoted less than one minute to the Aguirre report and spend more than 5 minutes for the liberal party story, complete with character generated text of their statement."

In the last part he said he pitied Vicky Morales and the papangueno reporter for having to put up with GMA.

I pity Vicky morales and the pampangueno reporter who voiced the report using the same script in their succeeding news programs. Where they forced to perform. I don't believe they will do it, given the option.
