LOOK: Two High-Ranking CPP-NPA Officials Arrested By Authorities In Negros Occidental

This October 19, Thursday, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) confirmed today that two ranked members of the Communist Party of the Philippines and New People's Army (CPP-NPA) got arrested in Barangay Dulao in Bago City, Negros Occidental.

The Warrant Of Arrests (WOA) for the two CPP-NPA was served by the CIDG Operatives in Negros Occidental with elements of 16th Intelligence and Security Unit of Philippine Army, 17th ISU AIR (P), and 303rd Infantry Brigade. 

The arrested were identified as Aurora Cayon a.k.a. Lilay and Louie Antonio Martinez a.k.a. Louie Castro.

Cayon is a staff member of the National Finance Commission (NFC) of CPP-NPA and is also wasted for robbery with violence or intimidation of person and arson.

According to the CIDG, Cayon held several high positions in the CPP-NPA such as member Execom and head finance both of Komiteng Mindanao, 2nd Deputy Secretary of Southern Mindanao Regional Committee and 2nd Deputy Secretary of North Eastern Mindanao.

Castro on the other hand is the National Military Staff, N4 Logistics, General Command of CPP-NPA.

As stated in the report, the authorities were able to confiscate a caliber .45 pistol, a hand grenade, magazines, and ammunition were confiscated from their possession.

The CIDG stated that additional cases were already filed before the Office of the City Prosecutor in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental against the two CPP-NPA officials. Cases filed were violations of RA 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Law and RA 9516 or Illegal Possession of Explosives.

The Philippine National Police vows to intensify the campaign and efforts against threat groups such as this. They also urge the public to always stay vigilant and to report any suspicious actions related to terror threats.
