Columnist: Aquino Admin Quiet On Canadian Garbage Issue In Exchange Of 500 Jobs For Filipino Nurses

We all know about the issue of Canada and the Philippines regarding them dumping their garbage here in our country.

Manila Standard Columnist Jojo A. Robles took to Facebook to explore the truth. Did the previous administration really let Canada dump their garbage in exchange of 500 nurse jobs in Canada?

MORE GARBAGE: The Noynoy government promised to keep quiet on the Canadian garbage issue in exchange for giving 500 jobs to Filipino nurses in Canada.It's true: the deal was 106 container vans of trash for 500 nurse positions.

During that time, the investigation was prematurely shut down under the direct orders of Noynoy Aquino himself. Which, according to Robles just opened more questions. He enumerated his questions.

He asked whether the "legal problems" that Trudeau was saying was about that issue.

1. Is the garbage-for-nurses deal the reason why Justin Trudeau said there were "legal problems" with repatriating the trash to Canada?

He also questioned who is behind Chronix.

2. Who is behind Chronix, the importer of the Canadian garbage? Is it true that the principals are close to the Aquino administration?

Another question he raised is the location of the garbage dump which is in Aquino's home province.

3. Why was a portion of the trash buried in Tarlac, of all places? Is it true that all of it would have been buried there, in Aquino's home province, if the Tarlac provincial government didn't protest?

He also asked where the garbage is now.

4. Is it true that the garbage is now in Subic, after it was brought there when Tarlac province refused it?

Regarding that same issue, in response to the garbage issue, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in a press conference in the ASEAN summit said that Canada is open and willing to work with the Philippines.

Canada is very open to work with the Philippine government to resolve the garbage problem. We have legal barriers that prevented us from receiving the wastes back to Canada. These impediments have now been addressed. So it is theoretically possible to bring them back.

Meanwhile, International Law expert and sister of the late Miriam Defensor Santiago, Paula Defensor-Knack also has her say about the issue.

She claims that Aquino agreed to let Canada violate an International Environmental Law by allowing Canada to do what they did.
