WATCH: Honeylet Turns Emotional As She Defends President Duterte Against Critics

For the longest time since President Rodrigo Roa Duterte became president, the Presidential Spouse Cielo "Honeylet" Avanceña stayed off the limelight. Even after the controversies and the critics against her husband, she remained quiet.

Critics started coming after her when she was invited by the United States First Lady, Melania Trump for her event in New York. Even then, she remained silent and never got into the limelight.

Just this Tuesday, a lot of people were happy to see Avanceña taking her rightful place. In the launching of the PNP's program, "Life after Tokhang" which Avanceña led, she gave a speech and even became emotional when she defended Duterte.

She mentioned Senator Antonio Trillanes IV who has been after them since a week before the elections.

"Trillanes has been hitting us since a week before election... Pero bakit buhay pa siya? Diba? Wala namang nangyayari,"

Avanceña became teary-eyed as she insisted that Duterte is not really the kind of person to instruct his men to kill people.

"So it's not true that he's that kind of person... You can see the goodness in his heart,"

She also added,

"He will never instruct the PNP to kill people. It's not his style, it's not his cup of tea."

Meanwhile, also in the same speech, Avanceña cleared that Duterte is not power-hungry. She said he will step down as soon as federalism is established.
