Good Samaritan Grab Driver Victim Of Carnap-Slay In Pasay

About a year ago, a Grab driver was given recognition when he refused payment from his passenger who was in a weak and vulnerable state. He brought the passenger to the hospital for her dialysis and diabetes, despite the travel time that was more than an hour, he didn't let the passenger pay. He said that he grew fond of the passenger who was singing quietly at the back even though she doesn't feel well.

Remember him now? Unfortunately, in a tragic turn of events, he was killed in a carnap incident when his killers posed as his passengers and escaped with his car.

According to Grab's statement, the driver was killed on Thursday along Bonanza Street in Pasay. The initial police reports, a witness heard a gunshot around 7:30 PM and saw a lifeless body being dumped out of a silver Toyota Innova. The suspects fled with the victim's vehicle.

Maquidato's nephew posted on Facebook to confirm his uncle's death.

In a statement, Grab said that they are already working with the Philippine National Police - Highway Patrol Group to resolve the recent series of carnapping incidents involving their vehicles.

"Grab has taken steps in working on a tech solution that would decrease, if not completely hamper, the chances of carnapping incidents involving Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) – that have apparently been the latest target of lawless elements,"

Grab also reminded their drivers to be vigilant and to call 911 for emergencies.

 "We encourage our driver-partners to be vigilant, and to use 911 hotline for emergency cases,"
