After almost 6 months after the conflict in Marawi started. President Rodrigo Duterte was finally able to announce that Marawi City is finally free from the Maute-ISIS group.
In relation to this, Manila Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada called out to the public to stay united and support the government in fighting terrorism.
According to Estrada, if there is something that we can takeaway from what happened in Marawi, it is the realization of how important it is to stay united so we can move forward as a nation.
Duterte's "political will" and "inspiring leadership" was what inspired the Philippines to support the offense strategies of the military against the Maute-ISIS group that wanted to take over Marawi.
During the months that the war was ongoing, President Duterte was all out in providing personal support for the soldiers in Marawi. He visited the wounded and he supported the fighters.
Estrada also added that when he was president, he went to an all-out war against Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) last 2000.

“If there is no peace and order, we cannot move forward, that’s why we should be united as a nation,”He also said that he thinks the reason why the Philippines is being left behind is that despite being small, the people can't unite.
“We are all Filipinos, we’re just a small country, and yet we cannot unite? This is why we are left behind. We only have one flag, one Constitution, one government. Period,”Estrada also reiterated that it is just right to praise the president for the way he handled the Crisis in Marawi.
