The Raid Of Parojinog is an Overkill – Atty. Topacio

A few days ago, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, the Liberal Party President voiced out that he is suspicious about the time of the attack that resulted in the death of suspected drug lords including Ozamiz Mayor Parojinog Sr. and a member of the board from the Parojinog family.

He asks why did the attack group issued a warrant of arrest past 2 a.m. as well as removing the nearby circuit television camera (CCTV) during an anti-drug operation against the family.

Pangilinan became more suspicious when he learned that no one from the group of attackers was injured or killed in the dangerous operations despite the police report that the Parojinog family bodyguards were extremely armed.

The senator said the report from the group was "unrealistic".

"Hinatid ang warrant of arrest nang pasado alas dos ng madaling araw. Pinatay ang CCTV (closed-circuit television) camera bago pasukin ang bahay. Lahat ng 15 pinaghihinalaang mga drug lord at ang kanilang 'armadong-armadong' mga bodyguard ay nasa pinangyarihan ng krimen at pinatay. Walang mga sugatan o napatay sa panig ng PNP. Hindi makatotohanan. Pwedeng gawin ito kaninuman."

Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson, however, reasoned with Pangilinan, he said that when he was still serving, it was normal to start an operation in the wee hours of the morning, so you will have a great chance of catching them unaware.

On the other hand, even if Lacson already said this, there will still be anti-administration people who won't rest until they voice out their opinions.

While this is not fresh news when it comes to the President's detractors, we think it is quite notable to add that another one doubts what happened. 

Atty. Ferdinand Topacio describes the police raid an "overkill" where Ozamiz City Mayoy Reynaldo "Aldong" Parojinog and 14 others were killed last week.

According to Topacio, the lawyer of Vice Mayor Nova Parojinog, the raid was just not right because other members of the board were shamed even though the drug lord was identified.

Topacio added that it's impossible to have the Mayor's wife Susan shot the police officers because she's a senior citizen and too old to hold guns.

In addition, the lawyer also questioned the failure of the police to provide a copy of the documents related to the raid.

Nova also analyzes the case filed against three police officers involved in the operation while the authorities are preparing the case against the two after they have scheduled their inquest today.
