Alleged High-Profile Narco Cop Shot Dead in Talisay City Shootout

Around 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, a policeman who was named by President Rodrigo Duterte as a well-known drug persona was shot in Barangay Pooc, Talisay City, Cebu during a decisive gun battle with the police.

Chief Senior Supt. Jonathan Cabal, Regional Intelligence Division 7 (RID7), personally identified high-profile target  PO3 Ryan Martus Quiamco who suffered fatal wounds after he tried to fight with RID7 operatives at 6 last night.

Talisay City Police Chief Supt. Emerson Dante said that the shootout happened outside Quiamco’s house in Corona del Mar Subdivision in Barangay Pooc.

Dante said they supported the RID in searching Quiamco who was an alleged subject of openly admitted drug lord Franz Sabalones.

The errant PO3 traveled to Ozamiz City to get the prohibited drugs, an intelligence officer said, who requested not to be named.

An undercover officer negotiated with Quiamco, who agreed to meet with him at a mall.

The meeting place later changed to the South Road Properties. Quiamco was in his black pickup truck during the operation. He opened fire after he became aware he was dealing with the police. A shootout ensued and shots were exchanged, until the police were able to surround him and a fatal shot took him down. Police operatives were able to take firearms, bullets and some packs of shabu from Quiamco’s person.

One RID operative, Quiamco’s wife Rizalyn and three bystanders namely Carla Teshia Macabunas, 12; Nido dela Cerna, 41; and Aime Raganas, 27 were brought to Talisay City District Hospital for treatment from injuries related to the shootout.

Rizalyn Quiamco, wife of alleged narco-cop Ryan Quiamco, passed away at the hospital an hour after her husband was killed in the encounter with the police.

The espionage showed Rizalyn helped her husband in the prohibited drug trade, RID-Central Visayas Chief Jonathan Cabal said.

Rizalyn was the one driving the black pickup truck at the time of the encounter.
