Senator Kiko Pangilinan turned to social media to express his disbelief in line to the joint-operation conducted by the PNP-CIDG at the residence of the Parojinog political clan, last Sunday.
In a facebook post, Pangilinan seems not convinced about the legitimacy of the operations which resulted to the death of Mayor Reynaldo "Aldong" Parojinog and 14 others, including his wife.
The senator questioned the issuance of arrest warrants at past 2 a.m. as well as disabling the closed-circuit TV (CCTV) cameras prior to entering the premises.
Pangilinan, who is a member of the minority bloc of the Senate and the current president of the Liberal Party, said the bloody raid could set a precedent for the police to launch operations with the intention to kill, and not arrest drug personalities.
He said that the police's predawn raid is "unrealistic."
"Hinatid ang warrant of arrest nang pasado alas dos ng madaling araw. Pinatay ang CCTV (closed-circuit television) cameras bago pasukin ang bahay. Lahat ng 15 pinaghihinalaang mga drug lord at ang kanilang 'armadong-armadong' mga bodyguard ay nasa pinangyarihan ng krimen at pinatay. Walang mga sugatan o nasawi sa panig ng PNP. Hindi makatotohanan. Pwedeng gawin ito kaninuman," the senator wrote on Facebook.
Earlier, Ozamiz Police director Jovie Espenido explained that they intentionally "paralyzed" the security cameras in the houses of slain Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog and his relatives for the safety of the civilians accompanying them.
According to report, when the officers were serving warrants to Ozamiz mayor, the bodyguards of Mayor Parojinog opened fire on police that made them to retaliate.
