Soldier Sacrificed Life By Covering The Grenade With His Own Body To Save Comrades From The Explosion

The war in Marawi has been going on for months now. And no matter how much we want to try to avoid deaths and casualties, there are bound to be deaths in every war.

We've faced several valiant deaths already from our side. This September 25, 2017, we are one with the nation as we give out our snappy salute to the 46th warrior to join our Creator.

Corporal Eric Delos Reyes died from shrapnel wounds all over his body as he tried to save his fellow soldiers when a grenade went off during their clearing operations. He valiantly covered the grenade with his body before it went off.

The Facebook page Salute to the Fallen paid tribute to him and the other fallen heroes.

Ang sundalong si Corporal Eric Delos Reyes ay nasawi mula umano sa mga grabeng sugat ng shrapnel na tinamo sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng katawan sa kagustusan nitong masalba ang iba niyang mga kasamahan mula sa sumabog na granada habang ginagawa nila ang clearing operation noong Lunes. 

Si Delos Reyes ay residente ng Barangay Tagasilay sa Zamboanga City at kasapi ng Philippine Marine Special Operations Group. Buwan ng Hulyo lamang ng kasalukuyang taon nang magpakasal sila ng kanyang misis.
