Bato to Hontiveros - "Pano Ko Dedepensahan Ang Organization Ko Na Sarado Isip Niyo?

In the Senate public order committee chaired by former PNP chief Senator Panfilo Lacson that resumed on Tuesday its investigation on the death of 17-year-old Kian Delos Santos in the hands of the police, Senator Risa Hontiveros quizzed PNP chief Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa about the continuous rise of killings amidst the government's drug war.

The lady senator is seeking accountability from none other than President Duterte himself for ordering the police to kill suspected drug addicts and pushers.

In defense, PNP Chief Bato broke down as he explained his point, that there was never a policy to kill people, the President did not order that.

“Magpakatamay kami para sa inosenteng tao. Mahirap naman sabihin natin na may policy na malawakang pagpatay. Andyan si Lord, nakikita niya. Alam niya. I’m willing to go back to Davao ‘pag na-prove niyo,”

He addresses Hontiveros and said that the president never said anything about killing drug addicts to him. He questioned Hontiveros about her and her allies' close minded belief that there is a policy and that the President himself ordered it.

“Walang sinabi si Presidente sa akin na pumatay kami nang pumatay. One-hundred seventy-five thousand policemen, paano ko dedepensahan ang organization ko na sarado na isip n’yo na may policy kami na ganyan?”

In addition to his statements, Bato cried for justice for their men who is laying their lives on the line for the drug war, but also assured that he is one with the senators, as wells as the victims' families in their longing for justice.

“Sana hustisya rin ng karamihan na pulis na nagtatrabahao. I’m grieving for majority of my men. ‘Yung buhay nila nakataya, tapos i-accuse niyo kami na may policy na ganon? Masakit.”

Lastly, he told Hontiveros that he knows that she knows that he will never let evil be used by the police. Dela Rosa is classmates with Hontiveros' late husband at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), They graduated in 1986.
