SWS Confirms Duterte Administration Still Has “Very Good” Public Satisfaction Ratings

Social Weather Stations (SWS) has confirmed as per their latest survey what most Filipinos already know: that President Rodrigo Duterte still maintains “Very Good” public satisfaction ratings.

Despite the seemingly endless barrage of intrigues and accusations that have been hurled directly at it, the results of the survey conducted between June 23 to 26 on 1,200 adults across the country (sampling error margins of ±3 points for national percentages, ±6 points for Metro Manila) showed that a staggering 75 percent remain satisfied with the national government, while 13 percent are undecided and 11 percent are dissatisfied, overall a score of +64, classified as very good.

Despite being two points less than the March 2017 survey, the numbers still show that the Duterte Administration’s public satisfaction is still the highest compared to other administration starting from that of President Fidel V. Ramos up to President Benigno Aquino III.

The respondents of the SWS survey were asked to rate the government on 15 major issues affecting the country.

Surprisingly, the government got highest points on helping the poor, providing jobs, and defending the country’s territorial rights.

The administration got “good” marks on issues such as fighting terrorism, fighting crime, on foreign relations, solving extrajudicial killings, getting rid of graft and corruption, making peace with the Moro rebels as well as communist rebels, and making moves toward ending hunger for poor Filipino families.

The “moderate” scores the administration received were for issues such as fighting inflation and resolving traffic, as well as the decades-old problem of retrieving the stolen wealth from the late President Ferdinand Marcos’s family and cronies.

This just shows that no matter how the media disparages the government under President Duterte’s administration, majority of the Filipino public – those who voted for PRRD and probably more that have been convinced of his intentions for the Philippines – still know what’s up and are not swayed by the machinations of the influential people behind the major news networks.
