The hard-hitting interview of BBC HardTALK host Stephen Sackur to Senator Antonio Trillanes has made the rounds online which immensely elevated the popularity of the veteran journalist to several Duterte supporters all over the world.

Sackur earned enormous praises from netizens for his unbiased interview to one of the staunchest critics of President Rodrigo Duterte, which according to them, they were entertained how the host literally gave a hard talk to the embattled senator who took the opportunity to criticize Duterte in the international media.

Several Duterte supporters even wrote an open letter to expressed their thanks to the BBC host for what he did.

MJ Quiambao Reyes, a pro-Duterte blogger wrote an open letter to Sackur and she lauded him for his in-depth research prior to interviewing Senator Trillanes.

She also provide few information that could be useful for Sackur's future interviews and episodes.

Quiambao also suggested to Sackur that he may invite Vice-President Leni Robredo and their President Rodrigo Duterte in his news programme.

Krizzete Chua, another pro-Duterte blogger thanked Sackur for exposing how ignorant, malicious, and stupid Senator Trillanes in his interview.



She even tried to message Sackur on his Facebook account just to convey her views about President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Antonio Trillanes.


Former DILG Secretary Alunan also praised Sackur for doing his job well that he was able to see through masks. He said that "the more Antonio Trillanes talked, the more he sank in quicksand."

Alunan even said that Trillanes was drowned by the questions being asked by Sackur to the senator.


Malcolm Conlan, a Pinoy-at-heart British who lives in the Philippines described Sackur as an ‘excellent, very knowledgeable and well researched journalist on tackling Philippine senator Trillanes, who seems to be on mission to destabilize the Philippines and oust President Rodrigo Duterte from office.’


Netizens also expect that Sackur will invite more Filipino politicians in his show and make another hard-hitting interview.
