DAKILA Group Was Raised The Philippine Flag in the West Philippine Sea in Celebration of the 119th Independence Day

Today Dakila group raised the Philippine Flag in the West Philippine Sea to commemorate the 119th Philippine Independence Day celebration.

"We express our nationalism through our pledge in the continuous struggle for freedom. The Katipuneros who fought for our Philippine Independence believed that kalayaan, could only be truly achieved when each one has attained kaginhawaan, kapatiran, and kabutihang-loob."

Different issues have divided the country, including the war on drugs and the recent declaration of Martial Law.

“We wanted to create a safe space where discourses about freedom and human rights are done in a respectful manner. We want to listen to each other instead of simply talking against each other,” said Ralph Eya, Dakila’s Education Director.

“This symbolic gesture is an expression of our nationalism and our pledge in the continuous struggle for freedom. The Katipuneros who fought for our Philippine Independence believed that kalayaan, could only be truly achieved when each one has attained kaginhawaan, kapatiran, and kabutihang-loob. Today, when many in our nation are still living in abject poverty, caught in the crossfire in conflict zones, immersed in a culture of hate and violence, and deprived of their civil liberties and human rights, can Filipinos still claim true freedom?” Rama adds.
